Activities

Art

At SEI we encourage coloring as it helps develop hand strength which is very important for all hand-related fine motor skills, especially handwriting. Writing takes strength and dexterity, and coloring helps exercise these muscles. Hand strength also supports child’s proper pencil grip.

As kids manipulate a paintbrush, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn the basics of math. When children experiment with materials, they dabble in science. Art helps boost self-confidence when kids feel good while they are creating.

Literary Activity

To develop language and literary skills the pre-primary activities are carefully designed and broken down into 4 main sections: listening, speaking, literacy, and writing.

  • To be able to read and write, children need to learn the sounds the letters make so we focus literacy games on sounds, not letter names.
  • To prepare the children to write we introduce a lot of activities to improve the fine motor skills that a child needs to properly control a pencil.

All these activities help children acquire the skills required for writing and reading.

Math Activities

At SEI we have designed math activities by combining art, crafts, games and fun to get children excited about numbers and early math concepts. This helps our preprimary children enjoy exploring and learn mathematical concepts such as place values, skip counting, sorting, addition, subtraction, multiplication and even creating and solving their own story word problems. We ensure our preschoolers learn math through play and hands on activities.

Sensory Activities

At SEI children we encourage children to use multiple senses to accomplish a task so they will learn more from the experience and retain more information. Sensory Activities are important to brain development because sensory stimulation is essential for brain to develop and strengthen sensory related functions.

It also helps to build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways and facilitates exploration and naturally encourages children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. This leads to a child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks and supports cognitive growth, language development, gross motor skills, social interaction and problem-solving skills.

Physical Activity

From the academic year 2019, we have made structured play time an integral part of our Pre-primary curriculum. The Hale To Program prepares our pre-primary students to be physically and mentally active, fit and healthy for life. Through this program we

  • Provide regular physical activity to improve physical fitness.
  • Promote healthy growth and development.
  • Build strong bones and muscles and improve cardiovascular fitness.
  • Help develop gross motor and fine motor skills.
  • Maintain and develop flexibility, improve balance, posture, coordination and strength through Yoga.
  • Teach students self-discipline.
  • Provide opportunities to build character and social skills like teamwork, cooperation and leadership and make friends.
  • Improve sleep, self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Develop the ability to handle winning and losing while being a good sport.

These activities at SEI enable the child to develop fine and gross motor skills, get creative, and discover how fun learning can be!

Treasure Hunt

At SEI we use Treasure Hunt to improve children’s social skills as it encourages them to explore and discover new things by working cooperatively and taking turns to solve problems.

After School Program

(Monday ~ Friday: 04:00PM - 06:00PM)

Recognizing the need for quality care after school, SpecialMe provides extended hours of operation providing our students (age 3 to 7 years) with opportunities to explore other areas of interest. This program will also help lighten the load on you, as busy parents, by centralizing many of your child’s extracurricular activities in one place!

The activities held are as follows:

  • Dance
  • Classical Music
  • Language and Literacy
  • Chess
  • Art & Craft
  • Karate
  • Hale to Play

Science Activities

At SEI we have designed simple science activities for pre-primary kids that are both easy and exciting and help them to understand and grasp different science concepts. Our goal is to nurture in them a curiosity for everything around them. By answering their questions and talking about age-appropriate science concepts with preschoolers, we spark an interest in science.

Creative Play

At SEI we engage kids in creative play to help them develop important problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Creative and imaginative play help children grow emotionally, socially, intellectually and even physically. It helps develop many life skills, fosters a good imagination and helps kids to develop hand-eye coordination.

Activities

At SEI we are focused on delivering a world-class, child-centered education to all the children. Our vision is to have every student participate so we have designed our activities in such a manner that the children learn their basics while having a lot of fun with their friends.

For instance: The singing activity introduces children to letters and alphabets, block counting introduces them to numbers, story time introduces them to sentence formation and language skills etc.

We also encourage and inspire our preschoolers to explore the world around them. The children also get some exposure to science through nature walks and field trips to colors and shapes through puzzles and finger-painting activities.
