Student Counsellor
Overview
The counsellor will be responsible to provide support and guidance to students, addressing their academic, personal, social, and emotional needs.
Responsible For
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to address a variety of issues, including academic difficulties, personal problems, social conflicts, and emotional distress.
- Assess students' needs and develop personalized counseling plans to help them overcome challenges, set goals, and make informed decisions. Advocate for students' well-being and academic success by collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address student needs and concerns.
- Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff on issues related to mental health, social-emotional development, and community resources.
- Facilitate classroom presentations and discussions on relevant mental health and wellness topics to promote awareness and resilience among students.
- Collaborate with school staff to implement school-wide initiatives aimed at creating a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Conduct assessments and screenings to identify students who may benefit from counseling services or additional support.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress in counseling sessions, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to promote positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
- Collaborate with school and community resources to develop crisis response plans, train staff in crisis intervention techniques, and provide post-crisis support to students and staff.
