The students beside you are also teaching you.
Peer Learning is at the heart of the ICSE Focus Group Programme — small groups of students who explain, question, and encourage one another, guided all the while by a teacher who knows each of them by name.
Unlike a lesson that moves in one direction, Peer Learning circles back on itself — every student is, at different moments, the one asking and the one answering.
The Focus Group
2–3 STUDENTS · 1 MENTORPeer learning is an integral part of the ICSE Focus Group Programme, where students learn collaboratively by sharing knowledge, discussing concepts, solving problems, and supporting one another throughout their board examination preparation.
Each Focus Group consists of 2 to 3 students and is guided by a teacher who serves as a mentor. The mentor facilitates and monitors academic progress, provides individualized guidance, and helps students develop effective study habits and examination strategies.
- Facilitates and monitors each student's academic progress.
- Provides individualized guidance suited to each student's needs.
- Helps students develop effective study habits.
- Builds examination strategies tailored to the group.
Peer Learning
WITHIN THE GROUPWithin the group, students actively engage in peer learning by clarifying doubts, explaining concepts, sharing study techniques, and motivating one another to stay focused on their goals.
- Clarifying doubts as they come up, rather than letting them sit.
- Explaining concepts to one another in their own words.
- Sharing study techniques that have worked for them.
- Motivating one another to stay focused on shared goals.
The close mentorship of teachers, combined with the mutual support of peers, helps students build confidence, reduce examination-related stress and anxiety, and improve their academic performance.
A Nurturing Community
CONFIDENCE · CALM · GROWTHThe Focus Group thus becomes a nurturing community where every student is encouraged to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.
- Greater confidence in their own understanding.
- Reduced examination-related stress and anxiety.
- Improved academic performance.
- A small, steady community they can rely on.
