Arithmetic

At SEI Math is taught from a global view such as what is a number and place value using concrete materials. We strongly believe before formal lessons in math, children need to be able to compare, classify, pattern, map, and be familiar with the idea of sets.

In our Math Montessori classroom, we give children exercises that support counting quantity (0-9999), number recognition (0-9999), graphing, fractions, money, and time, in addition to learning all four mathematical operations (addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division) in concrete, hands-on ways.

In addition to that we have designed many exercises to lead the child to discover similarities and differences – to sort and arrange objects in one-to-one correspondence and to manipulate sets of objects.
